Newark, New Jersey
Legacy City Preservation: A National Conversation on Innovation + Practice was a free public event showcasing exciting new approaches to preservation in legacy cities to align with the launch of the game-changing Action Agenda for Historic Preservation in Legacy Cities.
Attendees discussed legacy city preservation with national and local doers and thinkers, and PechaKucha-style speakers shared innovative preservation projects underway in legacy cities across the nation. Tours of the in-progress rehabilitation of the Hahne & Co. Building showed firsthand how Newark is using its heritage to reimagine itself for the 21st century. The Hahne’s building is being reinvented by Rutgers University – Newark and partners as a major hub for arts and education.
